How much does solar cost on Long Island?
A typical 8 kW residential system runs $24,000 to $28,000 before incentives. The NY State residential solar tax credit (25% up to $5,000) brings that to roughly $19,000 to $23,000. The 30% federal residential credit ended on December 31, 2025, so it no longer applies to a system you buy. Most Huntington homeowners are paid back in roughly 7 to 9 years, with the remaining warranty years as bill savings.
How long does the install take?
The actual rooftop install is 6 to 8 hours for most homes. Town of Huntington building permits and PSEG Long Island interconnection review are the long pole — typically 2 to 4 weeks each, running in parallel.
What happens during a power outage?
